Questions about Our School

A Note to Parents.
If you view Taekwondo training as just another activity like soccer, t-ball and gymnastics, our school may not be for you.  The karate program offered at the YMCA is very good and may be more convenient for your needs.  Eastern Defensive Arts Academy is only interested in students and families who are dedicated to making a positive change in their life through the tremendous benefits our school offers.
We assume that every member has a long term goal of achieving a black belt... and beyond.

How Much does it cost to Join?
Our rates are based on the type of membership you choose.  Our monthly tuition ranges between $75 - $145 a month depending on the program.   Please talk to our instructor or office manager for details.

     Strictly month-to-month "No Commit" memberships.

An ongoing month-to-month agreement that can be cancelled with 5 days written notice required.

Block of Class Membership. Purchase a block of 30, 60, 100 or 300 classes. The most versatile membership!

Are there any other expenses I will experience?
At some point, you will need to acquire safety gear so you can safely participate in sparring drills. This includes a safety headgear, chest protector, groin cup for men and so on.  You may buy the equipment from us, or purchase elsewhere.  Headgear can cost about $35.   Chest gear averages about $45.  These items are not required right away and may be purchased over time.

How many Martial Arts classes can I take per week?
Our rates and requirements are based on a twice a week training schedule, typically 8 classes a month.  That works out to 96 classes a year.  But... You will be pleased to find that more classes are available to you as a benefit.  You may take your required rank specific class twice a week, as well as any open classes, as well as any class below your rank level!

Can I Cancel my martial arts program if I do not like it?
You may cancel your Month-to-Month "no-commit" program with a 5 days notice.  You will need to fill out a cancellation form and mail it directly to our tuition representatives at
Member Solutions, P.O. Box 705, Jenkintown, PA 19046. You may also e-mail them at customerservice@membersolutions.com, or call them at 888-277-4408.

How much do you charge for the belt testing to my next belt rank?
Most schools charge a fee (anywhere from $45 to $85) for every single belt test. We do not.  All belt tests and graduations are included in your membership. The only exception is the Black Belt test.  There is a fee for the Black Belt test which includes 5 weeks of supplemental training, the belt test, certificate and graduation. See the instructor for details on that.

Do you have family rates?
Yes we do.  If you wish to enroll additional family members we offer substantial savings. Please check with the instructor or office manager for the family discounts available. For the "Block of Classes" membership, the whole family may use the purchased block.

What family members qualify for the family rate?

Family memberships includes people who are your tax dependents only. So that would typically be Parents and Children.

How do I change my billing information?
