International Instructor Graduating class in Seoul, South Korea

                   Master-Instructor Mike Snisky

Director and Owner of

Eastern Defensive Arts Academy

In 1972, Michael David Snisky began his martial arts training in Bethlehem, PA under the watchful eyes of Soon-Ho Chang and Yong-Man Lee, both former instructors for the ROK (Republic of South Korea) Marines.  After years of intense training, he earned his first black belt in Korean Karate, known as Tang Soo Do in 1977

He went on to compete in many mixed style competitions, and became a respected full contact Taekwondo competitor.  Throughout the 1980's, he consistently won his division in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Mid-Atlantic USTU and AAU Olympic style championships.  He furthered his knowledge by training in the Korean grappling art known as Cheon Ki Do, a combative style of Hapkido.

With his student's great success at competition, and known for his effective teaching technique, Master Snisky was selected as the trainer for the U.S. Cup National Team for a competition with the Chinese Taipei national team in 1991.  The U.S. Team won that event, with one of Master Snisky's students winning two gold medals.

Mike Snisky was voted “Instructor of the Year” in 1995.

Today, Master Snisky is an internationally recognized Black Belt Master Instructor, and is a certified international instructor through the Kukkiwon's World Taekwondo Headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.

He is also certified with the U.S. Taekwondo Union at the U.S. Olympic Complex in Colorado as a referee.

In 1998, the internationally acclaimed World Taekwondo Academy in South Korea accepted only 91 masters from around the world to attend the historic 1st Foreign Instructor's Training Course.  Master Snisky became only the 10th "foreigner" in the world to graduate from that course.  While there, he worked with the top Taekwondo instructors in the world on various aspects of teaching, training and martial arts classroom operation.

After directing the Lehigh University Taekwondo program for 10 years, Master Snisky opened Eastern Defensive Arts Academy in 1988 with the purpose of enriching the lives of it's members through the tremendous benefits of martial arts training.  From practical self-defense to positive motivation... From Olympic style competition to character development... the many facets of martial arts training positively impacts the lives of it's members.
